Busy Mind ~ June

NEWS.
Great news!
Thanks to the lovely folks at Jordan's Jungle for the opportunity to be this summer's resident painter for their Art in the Moment series! From May - September, you can find me painting in the Jungle from 10-3 each month!
June and July are the big art fest months! Narragansett and Wickford are on deck... I'm busy prepping a whole range of large and small pieces that I can't wait to share with you!
This year is different.
I don't have as many pop up market events this year. This is because I am shifting energy to new milestones! My first solo t-shirt drop was a success, and I am excited to be working on a few other new experiences... from wearbles, to workshops, live painting, and website updates, this year is about pushing my comfort zone with projects that 'play the long game.'
It has been an adjustment. Sometimes I feel like I'm 'not doing anything' because I'm not running around setting up shop every weekend. However, my work has not stopped. I am still making progress on pieces and projects that simply are taking more time. There is even a collaboration or two sprinkled in!
SUMMER. IS. HERE.
If you know New England summer, you know Dels.

Tips for starting artists
Outdoor markets are a fun way to connect and get some fresh air. However, they require different considerations when it comes to prep...
Setup Essentials
- Bring lightweight tables/display stands.
- Don't forget to iron or have a wrinkle-resistant tablecloth. They create a clean-looking storage space for all your other belongings.
- Don't forget easels, racks, or bins - flip through your prints with ease.
- Bring clear signage! Make sure pricing is reasonably visible (take away the need to ask how much your work costs).
- Make sure you have tent stakes or weights that meet the requirements of event coordinators.
- Bring smaller weights for any items on your table that could fly away with a good gust of wind. I find fishing line, tape, and a few cute heavy desk items particularly helpful.
- Don't forget scissors. You or someone next to you will usually need to borrow a pair at some point!
Sales
- Don't forget to bring protective packaging for people buying your work!! Bags, sleeves, boxes are crucial in ensuring your customer stays happy and can get their piece home safely.
- Business cards - if you don't have cards, make sure a QR code or some way to find your website is readily available.
- Make sure any devices used to collect payment are fully charged. I usually make sure to do this the night before an event.
- Bring a back up battery and the correct charging cords.
- Have change! People still pay with cash.
Personal Supplies
- HYDRATE. A small cooler with a water bottle and a few snacks can make a huge difference. Heat stroke, fainting, and exhaustion is no joke and unfortunately happens at events during the summer. Your extra water bottle could make a big difference. Look out for one another.
- Bring a chair that is a reasonable height to your table.
- SUNSCREEN. The tent's cover/packaging may brag about UV protection... but you can still get very burned even when sitting in a tent. Get a good layer of sunscreen on you before you set up shop.
