It comes and goes in waves —

Notes of: undercurrents, presenting emotions, background thoughts, a busy mind.

This is a piece of coping, reflection, and processing in prayer. Centering in order to understand and express senses of both weight and levity.

This canvas is old. Started with a self portrait study featuring oil paint and gold luster. Overlapped over years of exploring styles and textures.

Chipping layers are met with acceptance: Demonstrating fragility, and how easy it is to slip back into the past. Initially met with shame and frustration, the chips offer glimpses of what was once a hopeful finished product.   The flaws are welcomed embellish the current presentation rather than be scraped away and "recovered" to seem intentional. Never be ashamed of what you once pursued for your own wellbeing and growth. 

Development is a constant. Life is a constant. It is undoubtedly certain that the massive range of emotions spans well beyond the visible.
